I'tikaf adalah cara terbaik mendapatkan malam Lailatul Qodar. Tujuan itikaf adalah fokus ibadah guna meraih rahmat dan ampunan Allah SWT di akhir Ramadhan.

I'TIKAF (Arab: اعتكاف ) secara bahasa berarti menetap pada sesuatu, menghalangi diri, atau mengurung diri.

Secara syar’i atau maknawi, i’tikaf berarti menetap atau diam di masjid dengan tata cara yang khusus disertai dengan niat untuk fokus ibadah --shalat, dzikir, membaca Al Qur’an, dll.

Tujuan I'tikaf

Orang yang beri'tikaf disebut Mutakif. I'tikaf bertujuan utama mendapatkan malam Lailatul Qodar dengan fokus beribadah kepada Allah SWT dan menjauhkan diri dari urusan duniawi.

"Carilah lailatul qadar pada sepuluh malam terakhir dari bulan Ramadhan." (HR. Bukhari dan Muslim)

"Carilah Lailatul Qadar di malam ganjil dari sepuluh malam terakhir di bulan Ramadhan.” (HR. Bukhari)

Hukum I'tikaf: Sunah 

I’tikaf itu hukumnya sunnah, bukan wajib, kecuali jika seseorang mewajibkan bagi dirinya bernadzar (berjanji) untuk melaksanakan i’tikaf.

Syarat i’tikaf adalah brgama Islam (Muslim/Muslimah) yang baligh (dewasa) dan berakal (tidak boleh anak kecil yang belum baligh dan berakal untuk beri’tikaf), berniat i’tikaf, suci dari junub, haid, dan nifas (I’tikaf tanpa wudhu tidak apa-apa tapi dianjurkan dalam keadaan bersuci/wudhu), dan dilakukan di dalam masjid (i'tikaf tidak boleh di luar masjid).

Dalil/Dasar Hukum  I'tikaf


كَانَ النَّبِىُّ – صلى الله عليه وسلم – يَعْتَكِفُ فِى كُلِّ رَمَضَانَ عَشْرَةَ أَيَّامٍ ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ الْعَامُ الَّذِى قُبِضَ فِيهِ اعْتَكَفَ عِشْرِينَ يَوْمًا
"Nabi Saw  biasa beri’tikaf pada bulan Ramadhan selama sepuluh hari. Namun pada tahun wafatnya, Beliau beri’tikaf selama dua puluh hari”. [HR. Bukhari]

Waktu i’tikaf yang lebih afdhol adalah di akhir-akhir ramadhan (10 hari terakhir bulan Ramadhan).

أَنَّ النَّبِىَّ – صلى الله عليه وسلم – كَانَ يَعْتَكِفُ الْعَشْرَ الأَوَاخِرَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ حَتَّى تَوَفَّاهُ اللَّهُ ، ثُمَّ اعْتَكَفَ أَزْوَاجُهُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ

“Sesungguhnya Nabi Saw beri’tikaf pada 10 hari terakhir bulan Ramadhan hingga wafatnya kemudian isteri-isteri beliau pun beri’tikaf setelah kepergian beliau.” [HR Bukhari & Muslim]

Nabi Saw beri’tikaf di 10 hari terakhir bulan Ramadhan dengan tujuan utama untuk mendapatkan malam Lailatul Qadar, menjauhkan segala kesibukan dunia, dan fokus beribadah,  munajat, do’a, dan  berdzikir.

Waktu I'tikaf

Imam Bukhari membuat judul bab “Bab (anjuran) i’tikaf di sepuluh hari terakhir dan (boleh) i’tikaf di semua masjid“. (Shahih Bukhari).

Dianjurkan untuk memulai i’tikaf di malam tanggal 21 Ramadhan setelah Magrib. Magrib adalah awal permulaan hari dalam sistem kalender Hijriyah.

Lamanya I'tikaf

Menurut mayoritas ulama, sebagaimana disebutkan dalam Shahih Fiqih Sunnah, tidak ada batasan waktu minimal i’tikaf. Artinya, i'tikaf boleh cuma sesaat di malam atau di siang hari.

Menurut Imam Al-Mardawi, “Waktu minimal dikatakan i’tikaf pada i’tikaf yang sunnah atau i’tikaf yang mutlak adalah selama disebut berdiam di masjid (walaupun hanya sesaat)."
  

Rukun I'tikaf

  1. Niat. 
  2. Dilakukan di masjid, baik masjid besar maupun masjid kecil seperti mushola.
  3. Menetap di masjid.

Pembatal I'tikaf

  1. Hubungan biologis dan segala pengantarnya.
  2. Keluar masjid tanpa kebutuhan.
  3. Haid dan nifas.
  4. Gila atau mabuk.
Selama i'tikaf, seseorang boleh keluar masjid jika ada kebutuhan mendesak, seperti makan, buang hajat, dan hal lain yang tidak mungkin dilakukan di dalam masjid.
