RAMADHAN adalah bulan istimewa. Salah satu keutamaannya adalah tiada nama bulan yang disebutkan dalam Al-Quran kecuali Ramadhan. (QS Al-Baqarah 2:184).

Ramadhan adalah bulan Al-Quran (Syahrul Quran). Pada bulan inilah wahyu pertama diturunkan. Ramadhan juga bulan Allah (Syahrullah). Pada bulan inilah kaum mukmin beribadah yang langsung ditujukan untuk Allah SWT dan Dia yang langsung membalasnya.

Ramadhan adalah waktu umat Islam melaksanakan Rukun Islam keempat, yakni puasa (shaum). Sebuah ibadah khusus dengan pahala kebaikan yang khusus pula.

Tujuh Keutamaan Ramadhan
Setidaknya ada tujuh keutamaan bulan Ramadhan:
  1. Pintu-pintu surga dibuka, pintu-pintu neraka ditutup rapat, dan setan-setan dibelenggu (HR An-Nasa'i). Keimanan kita yang meningkat, bertambah, dan bersemangat dalam ibadah selama Ramadhan yang menjadikan hal itu terjadi.

  2. Dalam bulan biasa, pahala setiap kebajikan dilipatgandakan 10 kali lipat, namun dalam bulan Ramadhan pahala amalan wajib dilipatgandakan 70 kali lipat dan amalan yang sunah disamakan dengan pahala amalan wajib di luar Ramadhan. (HR Muslim).

  3. Pahala puasa langsung diterima dan dibalas Allah SWT. "Setiap amalan anak cucu Adam dilipatgandakan. Satu kebajikan dilipatgandakan 10 kali sampai 700 kali lipat, kecuali puasa. Puasa adalah milik-Ku dan Akulah yang akan langsung membalasnya. (HR Muslim).

  4. Ramadhan bulan diturunkannya Al-Quran. “Bulan Ramadhan, bulan yang di dalamnya diturunkan (permulaan) Al Quran sebagai petunjuk bagi manusia dan penjelasan-penjelasan mengenai petunjuk itu dan pembeda (antara yang hak dan yang bathil)…." (QS. Al-Baqarah:185).”

  5. Dalam Ramadhan terdapat Malam Qadar (Lailatul Qodar), malam yang lebih baik dari 1.000 bulan (QS al-Qadar:1-5). Beribadah di malam itu setara dengan berjuang di jalan Allah selama 1.000 bulan. Orang yang berjumpa dengannya dijamin hidup lebih baik dan bahagia dunia-akhirat.

  6. Dosa-dosa masa lalu akan diampuni bila kita berpuasa dengan penuh iman dan pengharapan kepada Allah, juga mengisi malam-malamnya dengan Qiyam Ramadhan (shalat tarawih) dan ibadah lainnya (HR Bukhari dan Muslim).

  7. Pada bulan Ramadhan doa-doa dikabulkan Allah, apalagi saat berbuka puasa (HR Ibnu Majah dan Baihaqi). Selama berpuasa, seorang hamba sangat dekat dengan-Nya karena puasa kita memang untuk-Nya.
