 Wakil Presiden Jusuf Kalla menyampaikan kesannya setelah mengikuti kuliah duha Ustad Abdul Somad di Masjid Sunda Kelapa, Jakarta Pusat, Ahad, 4 Februari 2018. Menurut JK, isi ceramah Abdul Somad memiliki referensi yang kuat.
"Itu yang membedakan dengan ustad lainnya. Cara membawakannya juga mudah dipahami," kata JK.
JK mengatakan, Abdul Somad memiliki pengetahuan yang dalam, sehingga isi ceramahnya pun mudah dimengerti oleh kalangan mana saja.
Saat mengikuti kuliah duha, JK tampak terhibur dengan isi ceramah ustad Abdul Somad. JK beberapa kali tampak tertawa, lalu tersenyum mendengar ceramah Ustad Somad yang menggelitik para jamaah, hingga suara tawa pun menggaung di dalam masjid.
JK sempat tertawa ketika Ustad Somad sedang menyampaikan agar para jamaah tidak menertawakan seorang mualaf atau orang yang baru meyakini agama Islam. "Mualaf itu ketika masuk Islam dia bersih dari segala dosa, sama seperti baju ini bersih dari segala macam noda," katanya.
"Bersih, segala amalnya diulangi dari nol. Di dunianya diulangi dari nol. Di dunia ini yang diulangi dari nol itu ada dua, mualaf dan yang kedua pegawai Pertamina."
Mendengar kata-kata tersebut, JK pun tertawa lalu tersenyum lagi sambil menyimak isi ceramah Ustad Abdul Somad yang disisipi candaan.
Ustad Abdul Somad kemudian menceritakan ada seseorang yang curhat karena susah menikah. "'Ustad Somad, saya mau nikah tapi susah sekali mencari perempuan yang mau menikah ulang dari nol'. Kenapa kau bilang susah? Pergi kau ke pom bensin sana," ujar Ustad Abdul Somad sambil berguyon.
