“Penghalang pandangan jin terhadap aurat manusia adalah apabila dia masuk ke kamar kecil ia mengucapkan Bismillah.” (HR. Al-Tirmidzi dan Ibnu Majah)
Kapan Dibacanya?Maksud apabila masuk ke kamar kecil dalam kedua riwayat di atas adalah sebelum masuk ke kamar kecil, bukan ketika sudah berada di dalamnya.
Hal ini berdasarkan riwayat al-Bukhari dalam al-Adab al-Mufrad dari hadits Anas, beliau berkata:
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ الْخَلَاءَ قال : اللهم إني أعوذ بك من الخبث والخبائث 
“Adalah Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam apabila hendak masuk ke kamar kecil beliau membaca: Allaahumma Innii A’udzu Bika Minal Khubutsi wal Khabaaitsi.”
Lajnah Daimah dalam fatawanya, no. 1607, mengatakan:
“Di antara adab Islam, seseorang berdzikir kepada Tuhannya ketika hendak masuk ke kamar kecil atau kamar mandi. Yaitu dengan membaca sebelum masuk:
Allaahumma Innii A’udzu Bika Minal Khubutsi wal Khabaaitsi. Dan hendaknya tidak menyebut nama Allah setelah masuk di dalamnya, tapi harus diam dari menyebut nama Allah ketika sudah masuk.”
Sementara apabila di tempat yang terbuka yang tidak dikhususkan untuk buang hajat, seperti padang pasir dan hutan, maka doa ini dibaca tatkala hendak ditunaikannya hajat seperti ketika seseorang menyingkap pakaiannya. (Syarh Shahih Muslim: 2/92. Subul al Salam: 1/222 dari Maktabah Syamilah).
Hal ini merupakan pendapat jumhur ulama dan mereka mengatakan kalau seseorang lupa membaca doa ini maka ia membacanya dalam hati. (Fathul Bari, 1/307).
