Subhanallah (diucapkan: subhanawlooh) artinya Mahasuci Allah. Ini kalimat tasbih, yaitu menyucikan atau menegaskan kesucian Allah Swt. Kata Subhanallah diucapkan seorang Muslim, khususnya saat mendengar atau melihat hal buruk, sehingga maknanya menjadi "Mahasuci Allah dari keburukan demikian".

Secara umum, Islam menegaskan, dzikir Subhanallah dilakukan oleh seluruh makhluk-Nya.

"Langit yang tujuh, bumi dan semua yang ada di dalamnya bertasbih kepada Allah. Dan tak ada suatu pun melainkan bertasbih dengan memuji-Nya, tetapi kamu sekalian tidak mengerti tasbih mereka..." (QS. Al-Isra:44).

Makna Tasbih Subhanallah

Rasulullah Saw bersabda: “Apakah seseorang di antara kamu tidak mampu mendapatkan seribu kebaikan tiap hari?” Salah seorang di antara yg duduk bertanya: “Bagaimana di antara kita bisa memperoleh seribu kebaikan ?” Rasul bersabda: “Hendaklah dia membaca 100 tasbih ,maka ditulis seribu kebaikan baginya atau seribu kejelekannya dihapus” (HR Muslim).

“Barangsiapa membaca: Subhaanallaahi ‘azhiim wabihamdih maka ditanam untuknya sebatang pohon kurma di Surga.” (HR. Tirmidzi dan Al-Hakim).

"Barangsiapa mengucapkan, ‘Subhaanallaahi wa bihamdih' (Mahasuci Allah dan segala puji bagi-Nya),' seratus kali dalam satu hari, di ampunilah dosa-dosanya, walaupun dosa dosanya itu sebanyak buih di lautan." (HR Al-Bukhari).
