Ungkapan dzikir atau kalimah thayyibah "Subhanallah" sering tertukar dengan ungkapan "Masya Allah". Ucapkan "Masya Allah" kalau kita merasa kagum. Ucapkan "Subhanallah" jika melihat keburukan!

SELAMA ini kaum Muslim sering “salah kaprah” dalam mengucapkan Subhanallah (Mahasuci Allah), tertukar dengan ungkapan Masya Allah (Itu terjadi atas kehendak Allah).

Kalau kita takjub, kagum, atau mendengar hal baik dan melihat hal indah, biasanya kita mengatakan Subhanallah. Padahal, seharusnya kita mengucapkan Masya Allah yang bermakna “hal itu terjadi atas kehendak Allah”

Ungkapan Subhanallah tepatnya digunakan untuk mengungkapkan “ketidaksetujuan atas sesuatu”. Misalnya, begitu mendengar ada keburukan, kejahatan, atau kemaksiatan, kita katakan Subhanallah (Mahasuci Allah dari keburukan demikian).

Ucapan Masya Allah

Masya Allah artinya “Allah telah berkehendak akan hal itu”. Ungkapan kekaguman kepada Allah dan ciptaan-Nya yang indah lagi baik. Menyatakan “semua itu terjadi atas kehendak Allah”.

Ungkapan Masya Allah diucapkan bila seseorang melihat hal yang baik dan indah. Ekspresi penghargaan sekaligus pengingat bahwa semua itu bisa terjadi hanya karena kehendak-Nya.

“Dan mengapa kamu tidak mengucapkan tatkala kamu memasuki kebunmu “Maasya Allah laa quwwata illa billah” (sungguh atas kehendak Allah semua ini terwujud, tiada kekuatan kecuali dengan pertolongan Allah). Sekiranya kamu anggap aku lebih sedikit darimu dalam hal harta dan keturunan?” (QS. Al-Kahfi: 39).

Ucapan Subhanallah

Saat mendengar atau melihat hal buruk/jelek, ucapkan Subhanallah sebagai penegasan: "Allah Mahasuci dari keburukan tersebut".

Dari Abu Hurairah, ia berkata: “Suatu hari aku berjunub dan aku melihat Rasulullah Saw berjalan bersama para sahabat, lalu aku menjauhi mereka dan pulang untuk mandi junub. Setelah itu aku datang menemui Rasulullah Saw. Beliau bersabd :‘Wahai Abu Hurairah, mengapakah engkau malah pergi ketika kami muncul?’ Aku menjawab: ‘Wahai Rasululla , aku kotor (dalam keadaan junub) dan aku tidak nyaman untuk bertemu kalian dalam keadaan junub. Rasulullah Saw bersabda:Subhanallah, sesungguhnya mukmin tidak najis” (HR. Tirmizi). 

“Sesungguhnya mukmin tidak najis” maksudnya, keadaan junub jangan menjadi halangan untuk bertemu sesama Muslim.

Dalam Al-Quran, ungkapan Subhanallah digunakan dalam menyucikan Allah dari hal yang tak pantas (hal buruk), misalnya:

“Mahasuci Allah dari mempunyai anak, dari apa yang mereka sifatkan, mereka persekutukan”, juga digunakan untuk mengungkapkan keberlepasan diri dari hal menjijikkan semacam syirik." (QS. 40-41).

“Dan (ingatlah) hari (yang di waktu itu) Allah mengumpulkan mereka semuanya kemudian Allah berfirman kepada malaikat: ”Apakah mereka ini dahulu menyembah kamu?” Malaikat-malaikatitu menjawab: “Mahasuci Engkau. Engkaulah pelindung kami, bukan mereka: bahkan mereka telah menyembah jin; kebanyakan mereka beriman kepada jin itu”. (QS. Saba’: 40-41).

“Ya Tuhan kami, tiadalah Engkau menciptakan ini dengan sia-sia. Mahasuci Engkau (dari menciptakan hal yang sia-sia), maka peliharalah kami dari siksa neraka.” (QS. Ali Imran:109).

Jadi, kesimpulannya, ungkapan Subhanallah dianjurkan setiap kali seseorang melihat sesuatu yang tidak baik, bukan yang baik-baik atau keindahan.

Dengan ucapan itu, kita menegaskan bahwa Allah Swt Mahasuci dari semua keburukan tersebut. Masya Allah diucapkan bila seseorang melihat yang indah-indah karena keindahan atas kuasa dan kehendak Allah Ta'ala.

Lalu, apakah kita berdosa karena mengucapkan Subhanallah, padahal seharusnya Masya Allah dan sebalinya?
