Sikat Gigi Saat Puasa, Batalkah Puasa Kita?


Bolehkah sikat gigi saat puasa? Apakah puasa jadi batal jika sampai menggunakan sikat gigi sekaligus pastanya?
Menggunakan Siwak itu Boleh
Dari Abu Hurairah radhiyallahu ‘anhu, Nabi shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam bersabda,
لَوْلاَ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِى لأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ وُضُوءٍ
“Seandainya tidak memberatkan umatku niscaya akan kuperintahkan mereka untuk bersiwak setiap kali berwudhu.” (Hadits ini dikeluarkan oleh Bukhari dalam kitab Shahihnya secara mu’allaq (tanpa sanad). Dikeluarkan pula oleh Ibnu Khuzaimah 1: 73 dengan sanad lebih lengkap. Syaikh Al Albani mengatakan bahwa sanad hadits ini shahih)
Penulis Tuhfatul Ahwadzi rahimahullah mengatakan, “Hadits-hadits yang semakna dengan hadits di atas yang membicarakan keutamaan bersiwak adalah hadits mutlak yang menunjukkan bahwa siwak dibolehkan setiap saat. Inilah pendapat yang lebih tepat.” (Tuhfatul Ahwadzi, 3: 488)
Sebagian ulama seperti ulama Malikiyah dan Asy-Sya’bi memakruhkan siwak basah karena memiliki rasa. Disebutkan Imam Bukhari dalam kitab shahihnya, Ibnu Sirin berkata, “Tidak masalah menggunakan siwak basah.”
Ada yang mengatakan, “Siwak basah memiliki rasa.”
Ibnu Sirin menyanggah, “Air juga memiliki rasa, namun masih dibolehkan berkumur-kumur dengan air.”
Diriwayatkan dari Ibnu Abi Syaibah, Ibnu ‘Umar juga berpendapat bahwa tidak mengapa menggunakan siwak yang basah maupun yang kering.
Intinya, siwak basah masih dibolehkan karena yang dikhawatirkan sesuatu yang masuk lewat mulut. Sebenarnya sama halnya dengan berkumur-kumur.
Jika ada sesuatu basah yang berada di mulut dimuntahkan, maka tidak merusak puasanya. Lihat pembahasan dalam Tuhfatul Ahwadzi, 3: 488.
Sikat Gigi Saat PuasaKalau kita melihat dari perkataan ulama masa silam, menyikat gigi tidak membatalkan puasa asalkan tidak ada pasta atau sesuatu yang masuk dalam rongga tubuh atau perut.
Imam Nawawi rahimahullah berkata, “Jika seseorang bersiwak dengan siwak yang basah lantas cairan dari siwak tadi terpisah lalu tertelan, atau ada serpihan dari siwak yang ikut tertelan, puasanya batal. Hal ini tidak ada perbedaan di antara para ulama (Syafi’iyah, pen.). Al-Faurani dan yang lainnya menegaskan seperti itu.” (Al-Majmu’, 6: 222)
Syaikh ‘Abdul ‘Aziz bin Baz rahimahullah ketika ditanya apa hukum menggunakan pasta gigi saat berpuasa, jawaban beliau, “Membersihkan gigi saat dengan pasta gigi tidak membatalkan puasa sebagai siwak. Hal ini selama menjaga diri dari sesuatu yang masuk dalam rongga perut. Jika tidak sengaja ada sesuatu yang masuk di dalam, maka tidak batal.” (Majmu’ Fatawa Ibnu Baz, 15: 260. Dinukil dari Fatwa Al-Islam Sual wa Jawab no. 108014).
Namun ada saran dari Syaikh Muhammad bin Shalih Al-‘Utsaimin rahimahullah, “Lebih utama adalah orang yang berpuasa tidak menyikat gigi (dengan pasta).
Waktu untuk menyikat gigi sebenarnya masih lapang. Jika seseorang mengakhirkan untuk menyikat gigi hingga waktu berbuka, maka dia berarti telah menjaga diri dari perkara yang dapat merusak puasanya.” (Majmu’ Fatawa wa Rasail Ibnu ‘Utsaimin, 17: 261-262).
Saran kami, untuk sikat gigi baiknya sebelum azan Shubuh atau setelah berbuka puasa. Jika ada rasa tersisa setelah menyikat gigi dan terasa di pagi hari, itu tidak merusak puasa.
