Allah SWT berfirman:
وَلَا يَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ يَبْخَلُونَ بِمَا آتَاهُمُ اللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِ هُوَ خَيْرًا لَّهُم ۖ بَلْ هُوَ شَرٌّ لَّهُمْ ۖ سَيُطَوَّقُونَ مَا بَخِلُوا بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ۗ وَلِلَّهِ مِيرَاثُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ
“Dan jangan sekali-kali orang-orang yang kikir dengan apa yang diberikan Allah kepada mereka dari karunia-Nya, mengira bahwa (kikir) itu baik bagi mereka, padahal (kikir) itu buruk bagi mereka. Apa (harta) yang mereka kikirkan itu akan dikalungkan (di lehernya) pada hari Kiamat. Milik Allah-lah warisan (apa yang ada) di langit dan di bumi. Allah Maha Mengetahui terhadap apa yang kamu kerjakan.” (QS. Ali ‘Imran [3]: 180)
Sifat kikir tidak dapat mendatangkan manfaat sama sekali baik untuk diri sendiri maupun orang lain. Kikir juga tidak akan membuat harta seseorang menjadi bertambah.
Coba perhatikan orang di sekitarmu, apakah ada diantara mereka yang kikir kemudian kehidupannya terlihat lebih bahagia karena kekikirannya?
Biasanya sih enggak lho Sob. Orang yang kikir justru akan nggak tenang karena takut hartanya itu berkurang karena alasan apapun.
Yang takut dicurilah, takut ketipulah, takut habis kalau buat bayar ini-itula macem-macem deh. Bahkan ada orang yang kikirnya tingkat dewa, sampai-sampai buat memenuhi kebutuhan diri sendiri aja pelitnya na’udzubillah.
Mending tiap hari makan nasi sama sambal atau sepotong gorengan buat seharian daripada harus buang-buang uang buat beli makan enak.
Boro-boro deh mikirin buat sedekah. Lha buat diri sendiri aja begitu. Padahal kan harta nggakada yang dibawa mati ya.
Lantas kepada siapakah sedekah terbaik itu diberikan? Fakir, miskin, dhuafa, atau anak yatim?
Mari kita simak dulu hadits berikut:
Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam bersabda: “Jika salah seorang di antara kalian fakir, maka hendaknya ia memulai (sedekah) kepada dirinya sendiri, jika ada kelebihan maka ia berikan kepada keluarganya, jika ada kelebihan maka ia berikan kepada orang yang memiliki hubungan kekerabatan, kemudian jika masih ada kelebihan maka ia bisa memberikannya kepada siapa saja.” (HR Abu Daud No 3446)
Sebelum berinfak kepada orang lain, lihatlah bagaimana keadaan diri sendiri, jika kebutuhan sendiri sudah dirasa tercukupi, baru kemudian diberikan kepada keluarga, kerabat terdekart, baru kepada orang di luar yang juga membutuhkan bantuan.
Sangat tidak dianjurkan untuk bersedekah namun ternyata diri sendiri masih kekurangan. Karena bagaimanapun seorang muslim tidak boleh mendzolimi dirinya sendiri.
