Sebentar lagi bulan Ramadhan akan datang menghampiri kita. Ramadahan merupakan bulan paling mulia dan dianjurkan memperbanyak amal baik.
Umat Islam, baik laki-laki ataupun perempuan, diwajibkan puasa di siang harinya dan dianjurkan memperbanyak ibadah sunnah di malam harinya.
Oleh sebab itu, pada malam Ramadhan, umat Islam meramaikan masjid dengan ibadah untuk menghidupkan malam Ramadhan.
Semasa hidupnya, Rasulullah SAW sangat menunggu kedatangan Ramadhan dan mempersiapkan diri agar bisa maksimal beribadah di bulan Ramadhan.
Beliau juga memunajatkan doa-doa tertentu dalam rangka menyambut Ramadhan.
Atas dasar itu, Imam al-Nawawi dalam al-Majmu’ Syarah al-Muhadzdzab mensunnahkan membaca doa ketika melihat hilal atau mengetahui tanda awal Ramadhan:
يستحب أن يدعو عند رؤية الهلال بما رواه طلحة بن عبيد الله رضي الله عنه أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كان  إذا رأى الهلال قال اللهم أهله علينا باليمن والإيمان والسلامة والإسلام ربي وربك الله
Allâhumma ahillahu ‘alainâ bil yumni wal îmani was salâmati wal islâm. Rabbî wa rabbukallâh
Artinya, “Ya Allah jadikanlah hilal (bulan) ini bagi kami dengan membawa keberkahan, keimanan, keselamatan, dan keislaman. Tuhanku dan Tuhanmu (wahai bulan) adalah Allah.”
Doa ini dianjurkan untuk dibaca ketika melihat hilal sebagaimana dikisahkan Thalhah Ibn ‘Ubaidillah bahwa Nabi SAW saat melihat hilal membaca doa di atas.
Hadis di atas diriwayatkan oleh Imam al-Tirmidzi dan masih banyak hadis lain yang menjelaskan do’a Nabi SAW ketika masuk Ramadhan atau melihat hilal.
Berdasarkan hadis tersebut, disunnahkan membaca do’a yang dilafalkan Nabi itu ketika melihat hilal Ramadhan atau setelah diumumkan bulan Ramadhan telah tiba.
Dengan membaca do’a tersebut, harapannya umur kita dipanjang oleh Allah SWT, sehingga dapat menjalankan ibadah puasa sebulan penuh dalam keadaan beriman dan dikarunia kesehatan.
