JAWAB: Di bulan Ramadhan, tahajud itu = tarawih. Tarawih dan tahajud itu sama-sama disebut shalat malam atau Qiyamull Lail.
Sekali lagi, bisa dikatakan, tajahudnya bulan Ramadhan itu tarawih. Hanya saja waktunya diawalkan, yakni setelah shalat Isya, karena sebelum Subuh adalah waktunya Sahur.
Itulah keringanan Allah SWT bagi umatnya sekaligus keistimewaan bulan Ramadhan. Jadi, tarawih itu sama dengan tahajud.

Di dalam salah satu tulisannya, di harian umum Republika, Dr Muhammad Hariyadi, MA, menulis, Rasulullah Saw tercatat tiga kali melakukan shalat tarawih di masjid yang diikuti oleh para sahabat pada waktu lewat tengah malam.
Khawatir shalat tarawih diwajibkan karena makin banyaknya sahabat yang turut berjamaah, pada malam ketiga Rasulullah lalu menarik diri dari shalat tarawih berjamaah dan melakukannya sendiri di rumah.
Pada saat selesai Shalat Subuh beberapa hari kemudian beliau menyampaikan konfirmasi :
“Sesungguhnya aku tidak khawatir atas yang kalian lakukan pada malam-malam lalu, aku hanya takut jika kegiatan itu (tarawih) diwajibkan yang menyebabkan kalian tidak mampu melakukannya.” (HR. Bukhari).
Dari tulisan Muhammad Hariyadi di atas, yaitu Rasulullah mengerjakan Shalat “Tarawih” adalah disaat biasanya umat muslim melakukan ibadah Shalat “Tahajud”, yakni pada waktu lewat tengah malam.
Di dalam Al-Fatawa Al-Mukhtarah Thariqul Islam, Syekh Hamid bin Abdillah Al-Ali memberi keterangan sebagai berikut:
"Di zaman Nabi shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam dan sahabat, baik Tarawih maupun Tahajud, dinamakan Qiyamul Lail."
Khusus di bulan Ramadan, terkadang ‘Qiyamul Lail‘ disebut juga ‘Qiyam Ramadhan‘. Rasulullah bersama para sahabat, melaksanakan shalat selama satu bulan di waktu awal malam sampai akhir malam.
Kemudian, setelah itu, kaum muslimin di generasi setelah beliau melaksanakan shalat ketika bulan Ramadan di awal malam, karena ini keadaan yang paling mudah bagi mereka.
Mereka juga mengerjakan Qiyamul Lail di penghujung malam, terutama pada sepuluh malam terakhir, dalam upaya mencari pahala yang lebih banyak dan mendapatkan Lailatul Qadar.
Selanjutnya, mereka menyebut kegiatan shalat di awal malam setelah isya, dengan nama ‘Shalat Tarawih’, dan mereka menyebut shalat sunah yang dikerjakan di akhir malam dengan nama ‘Shalat Tahajud’.
Semua itu, dalam bahasa Alquran, disebut ‘Tahajud‘ atau ‘Qiyamul Lail‘, dan tidak ada perbedaan antara keduanya dalam bahasa Alquran.
Dari uraian di atas, dapat kita pahami bahwa, istilah Shalat Tarawih, pada hakekatnya adalah Qiyamul Lail (yang biasa kita sebut sebagai Shalat Tahajud), yang waktu pelaksanaannya dikerjakan di bulan Ramadhan. Wallahu a’lamu bishshawab.*
