Hal ini di dasari atas maraknya orang yang share rekaman pengajian tentang haramnya bekerja di sektor pajak/bea cukai

Hadis yang umum digunakan dan dipahami sebagai ancaman pengambil pajak masuk neraka adalahs ebagai berikut:
إن صاحب المكس في النار
“Sesungguhnya shahibul makshi masuk neraka” (HR. Ahmad)
لا يدخل الجنة صاحب مكس
“Tidak akan masuk surga penarik pajak” (HR. Ahmad  dan Abu Dawud).
Penulis buku Aunul Ma’bud, Abu Abdurrahman Syamsul Haq Muhammad Syraf memaknai maks dengan kedhaliman. Hal itu karena di zaman jahiliyah sering ada orang yang memalak para pedagang dengan mengambil uang dari mereka.
Para pemalak itu disebut dengan shahibul maks. Sementara orang yang biasa mengambil pajak dari ahli dzimmah, mereka disebut dengan muhtasib dan bukan maks.
Makna lain dari al-maks menurut Allamah al-Ibadh adalah mengurangi. Dikatakan shahibul maks karena ia mengurangi hak orang yang diambil hartanya.
Menurut Imam Nawawi bahwa al-maks maknanya adalah orang yang mengambil pajak secara ilegal.
Dalam sejarah Islam sendiri, disamping ada zakat juga menerapkan system pajak. Jizyah adalah pajak bagi non muslim yang hidup di negeri muslim.
Dengan membayar jizyah (pajak personal), maka ia berhak untuk mendapatkan hak dan kewajiban di Negara muslim.
Al-Usyur adalah pajak bagi non muslim yang negerinya dibuka oleh tentara muslim. Tanah tetap menjadi milik mereka, namun mereka harus membayar pajak sebesar 10 persen.
Dari urain para ulama tentang makna shahibul maks dan juga sejarah Islam yang juga menerapkan pajak, teranglah bahwa makna shahibul maks itu bukan pengambil pajak, namun para pemalak.
