Suara tangisan bayi dalam keranjang begitu kuat dan Mike segera mengangkat dan menggendongnya.

Mike berlari keluar rumah untuk menyerahkan bayi kecil berusia 9 bulan itu pada rekannya.

Bayi itu adalah Dawnielle Davison, yang saat ini seorang siswi SMA.

Beberapa tahun setelahnya, Mike mencoba mencari tahu keadaan Davison yang dulu dia selamatkan dari kebakaran.

Mike menghubungi Davison melalui akun Facebooknya.

"Aku mengiriminya pesan, bahwa ku rasa dia adalah bayi yang dulu aku selamatkan saat kebakaran," kata Mike dilansir dari ABCnews.

Tidak disangka, Davison membalas pesan Mike dan mereka terus berkomunikasi.

Mike dan Davison sering bertemu dan menghadiri acara ayah-anak di berbagai kesempatan.

"Dia menganggapku sebagai ayah keduanya, ayah angkatnya. Kami sering menghabiskan waktu untuk datang ke festival hari ayah dan anak," lanjut Mike.

Yang paling membuat Mike terharu adalah ketika Davison mengiriminya undangan wisuda SMA.

"Aku sangat terharu, aku tidak mengira dia akan menganggapku seperti ini. Aku menyelamatkannya, tapi dia seperti menganggapku ayahnya sendiri,"

Mike pun menghadiri acara wisuda Davison dengan perasaan haru dan bangga.

Saat menyampaikan pidato wisudanya, Davison secara khusus menyampaikan rasa terima kasihnya untuk Mike.

"Terima kasih sudah menyelamatkan nyawaku, jika tanpa Mike, aku tidak akan pernah bisa berdiri di sini. Terima kasih, Mike telah memberiku kesempatan untuk tetap hidup," ungkap Davison dalam pidatonya.
