Wudhu itu menyehatkan lahir dan batin, fisik dan jiwa. Wudhu membersihkan badan dan mendatangkan pahala.

WUDHU, wudlu, atau wudu adalah bersuci, yakni membersihan diri dengan membasuh anggota badan tertentu untuk menghilangkan hadats kecil. Wudhu termasuk salah satu syarat sah shalat. Setiap Muslim yang hendak shalat harus berwudhu.

“Hai orang-orang yang beriman, apabila kalian hendak mendirikan sholat, maka basuhlah mukakalian dan tangan kalian sampai dengan siku, sapulah kepala kalianm dan (basuhlah) kaki kalian sampai dengan kedua mata kaki, jika kalian junub, maka mandilah” (QS. Al-Maidah : 6).

Bahkan disebutkan dalam hadits Shahih Muslim, berwudhu itu bagian dari iman.

“Bersuci itu separuh dari iman, bacaan Alhamdulillah itu memenuhi timbangan (mizan), bacaan subhaanallah wal hamdu lillah pahalanya memenuhi ruang antara beberapa langit dan bumi, sholat adalah cahaya, sedekah adalah bukti keimanan, sabar adalah sinar dan Al-Qur’an adalah hujjah yang mendukungmu atau mengalahkanmu, setiap orang itu pergi lalu menjual dirinya. “Apabila seseorang berwudhu dan dimulai dengan kumur-kumur, maka keluarlah semua dosa dari mulutnya. Apabila dia membersihkan hidung, maka keluarlah semua dosa dari hidungnya. Apabila dia membasuh muka, keluarlah semua dosa dari wajah dan kedua matanya. Apabila dia membasuh kedua tangan, maka keluarlah semua dosa dari kedua tangan itu hingga dari kuku-kuku jari tangannya. Apabila dia membasuh kepala, maka keluarlah dosa dari kepalanya hingga ke telinga. Dan apabila membasuh kedua kaki, maka keluarlah semua dosa dari kaki dan dari kuku-kuku jari kakinya. Kemudian, perjalanannya ke masjid dan sholat sunnah di dalamnya akan mendatangkan tambahan pahala untuk dirinya” (HR. Nasai).

SELAIN untuk memenuhi syarat sah shalat, kaum Muslim dianjurkan untuk berwudlu tidak hanya ketika hendak mendirikan sholat.
Setiap Muslim hendaknya berusaha untuk senantiasa "punya wudhu", yakni kondisi dalam keadaan sudah ambil air wudhu.

Bahkan ketika kita hendak makan pun, dianjurkan untuk mengambil air wudlu.

"Keberkahan makanan adalah dengan wudlu sebelum dan sesudahnya" (HR Abu Dawud).

Dari sisi kesehatan tubuh, ketika berwudlu, maka air akan membantu membuang kotoran-kotoran, sisa-sisa sel kulit mati tadi dan meminimalisir jumlah kuman pada permukaan kulit kita.
Jika seseorang selalu mandi atau membasuh anggota tubuhnya, maka akan memperbaiki dan melancarkan sistem peredaran darah, air yang mengandung elektrolit-elektrolit akan membuat pembuluh-pembuluh darah mengalami vasodilatasi (pelebaran) sehinggga memperlancar peredarannya.
