Sosok shalih yang dituturkan oleh Ibnu Abi Dunya ini bernama ‘Abdullah bin Abi Handzalah al-Ghasil. Saat ‘Abdullah bin Abi Handzalah keluar dari masjid, ia bertemu dengan sosok yang belum dikenali sebelumnya.

“Kamu kenal aku, wahai Ibnu Handzalah?” tanya sosok tersebut.

“Kenal,” jawab ‘Abdullah bin Abi Handzalah singkat.

“Siapa aku?” tantangnya dengan tanya berikutnya.

“Kamu,” beber ‘Abdullah bin Abi Handzalah, “adalah setan.”

Seraya terperangah, setan pun bertanya, “Bagaimana kamu bisa mengenali aku?”

“Saat keluar dari masjid,” tutur ‘Abdullah bin Abi Handzalah, “aku tengah mengingat-ingat Allah Ta’ala. Namun, ketika melihat dirimu, aku langsung lalai dari mengingat Allah Ta’ala.”

“Dari situlah,” simpul ‘Abdullah bin Abi Handzalah, “aku menyadari bahwa engkau adalah setan.”

“Kamu benar.” sahut setan membenarkan.

Ketika ‘Abdullah bin Abi Handzalah hendak pergi menjauh, setan pun mencegahnya. Katanya, “Akan aku beritahukan kepadamu satu hal.”

“Aku,” tolak ‘Abdullah bin Abi Handzalah, “tidak memerlukannya.”

“Dengarkan dulu,” kata setan bernegosiasi, “jika benar, kerjakanlah. Andai salah, acuhkan dan tinggalkanlah.”

Sebab dipaksa dan berharap ada hikmah yang didapat, ‘Abdullah bin Abi Handzalah pun tetap di tempat. Kata setan, “Jangan sekali pun meminta dengan harapan yang penuh kepada seorang pun selain Allah Ta’ala. Dan,” pungkasnya menutup percakapan, “lihatlah wajahmu saat marah.”

Setan memberitahukan kepada kita agar bercermin saat marah. Pasalnya, ketika itu, wajah setan berada di wajah seseorang yang marah. dengan melihat wajah diri saat dilanda amarah itulah, orang-orang yang bersih hatinya akan segera tersadar dan beristighfar hingga amarahnya mereda.

Selain itu, wujud setan juga bisa dikenali di mata orang yang sedang marah dan aliran darahnya. Itulah yang menjadi sebab memerahnya wajah dan naiknya detak jantung tatkala seseorang marah.
