Hakikat Hamdalah --Alhamdulillahi Robbil 'Alamin-- Bukan Sekadar Ungkapan Syukur. Ditanya "apa kabar", jawablah "baik, alhamdulillah..."
 
HAMDALAH --kalimat thayibah berupa ucapan alhamdu lillahi robbil'alamin atau al-hamdu lillah yang berarti "segala puji hanya untuk Allah"-- merupakan ungkapan rasa syukur atau rasa terima kasih seorang Muslim atas  atas karunia dan nikmat Allah SWT.

Karenanya, jika ada yang bertanya, apa kabar? Maka jawablah: baik, alhamdulillah. Selalu sertakan hamdalah! (Baca: Menjawab Pertanyaan Apa Kabar Menurut Islam)

Mengucapkan hamdalah merupakan ungkapan rasa syukur secara lisan, disertai ketulusan hati dan kesadaran bahwa semua nikmat yang diterima hakikatnya dari Allah SWT.

Kalimat lengkap hamdalah adalah Alhamdu lillahi robbil ‘alamin (QS. Al-Fatihah:2), artinya “Segala puji bagi Allah Rabb seru sekalian alam.”

Makna Alhamdu adalah pujian kepada Allah karena sifat-sifat kesempurnaan-Nya, juga karena perbuatan-perbuatan-Nya yang tidak pernah lepas dari sifat memberikan karunia atau menegakkan keadilan.

Perbuatan Allah senantiasa mengandung hikmah yang sempurna. Pujian yang diberikan oleh seorang hamba akan makin bertambah sempurna bila diiringi dengan rasa cinta dan ketundukkan kepada-Nya.

Allah SWT dipuji atas keindahan nam-nama-Nya dan kebaikan perbuatan-Nya (QS. 14:39, 27:15,93).

Menurut Syekh Muhammad bin Abdul Wahab dalam Tafsir Al-Fatihah, alhamdu ialah “pujian secara lisan atas besarnya kebaikan yang dikehendaki-Nya”. Alhamdu itu lebih umum dari syukur karena mencakup kebaikan dan perbuatan baik-Nya. Allah terpuji atas nama-nama-Nya yang baik, Asmaul husnam, serta yang Allah ciptakan di awal dan di akhir.

“Segala puji bagi Allah Yang tidak mempunyai anak” (Al-Israa:111). “Segala puji bagi Allah Yang menciptakan langit dan bumi” (Al-An’am:1).

Alif lam pada ucapan Al-Hamdu memberi makna penggabungan, yaitu segenap pujian kepada Allah semata dan tidak untuk selain-Nya. Maka setiap ucapan yang tidak dimaksudkan untuk makhluk, seperti penciptaan manusia, penciptaan pendengaran dan mata, langit dan bumi, rezeki, dan lainnya maka sudah jelas.

Pujian kepada makhluk hakikatnya pujian untuk Allah jua, selama disertai kesadaran semua makhluk adalah ciptaan-Nya. 

Itulah sebabnya, hamdalah diakhiri dengan Rabbil ‘alamin, artinya adalah "raja yang Maha Mengatur", raja segala sesuatu, dan Dia pula yang mengurus mereka.

“Katakanlah: "Siapakah yang memberi rezeki kepadamu dari langit dan bumi, atau siapakah yang kuasa (menciptakan) pendengaran dan penglihatan, dan siapakah yang mengeluarkan yang hidup dari yang mati dan mengeluarkan yang mati dari yang hidup dan siapakah yang mengatur segala urusan?" Maka mereka akan menjawab: "Allah". Maka katakanlah "Mangapa kamu tidak bertakwa kepada-Nya)?"” (QS. Yunus:31). Wallahu a’lam bish-shawab.*
