Adanya ketentuan shalat Jama’ dan Qoshor merupakan salah satu rahmat (kasih sayang) Allah SWT kepada hamba-hamba-Nya, juga menunjukkan betapa luwes (fleksibel) dan mudahnya ajaran Islam itu. Islam tidak kaku, tidak rigid.

Shalat Jama’ yaitu menggabungkan dua waktu shalat dalam satu waktu, yakni Shalat Dhuhur dengan Ashar atau Maghrib dan Isya’.

Shalat Qoshor yaitu meringkas rakaat dari empat menjadi dua. Shalat Qoshor tidak berlaku bagi shalat Magrib dan Subuh. Zhuhur, Ashar, dan Isya jadi dua rakaat; Maghrib tetap tiga rakaat, Subuh tetap dua rakaat.

Syarat Shalat Jama’
1. Uzur, seperti sakit dan hujan lebat
2. Ada keperluan mendesak (darurat)
3. Musafir, menempuh perjalanan jauh, keluar kota, atau meninggalkan kampung halaman.

Soal jarak tidak ada ketetapan dari Rasul, namun para ulama menyebutkan jarak lebih dari 15 Km, 25, Km, 81 km, 88 Km, dan antara 80-90 Km, juga tiga mil. Tinggal di luar kampung halaman untuk sementara, boleh Jama’.

Rasulullah Saw pernah mengakhirkan sholat waktu Perang Tabuk --shalat Zhuhur dan Ashar secara jama’, juga Maghrib dan Isya (HR. Imam Malik dan Tirmidzi). Rasulullah Saw mengerjakan sholat dua rakaat (qoshor) jika sudah berjalan sejauh tiga mil atau tiga farsakh.” (HR. Ahmad, Muslim, Abu Daud, dan Baihqi). Tiga farskah = sekitar 25,92 Km.

“Rasulullah Saw pernah menjama’ antara Zhuhur dan Ashar jika berada dalam perjalanan, juga menjama’ Maghrib dan Isya.” (HR Bukhari).

“Nabi Saw pernah menjama’ shalat Maghrib dan Isya suatu malam yang diguyur hujan lebat.” (HR. Bukhari).

“Rasulullah Saw jika keluar menempuh jarak 3 mil atau 3 farsakh beliau shalat dua rakaat.” (HR Muslim).

Perjalanan 16 farsakh (81 km) menurut ulama madzhab Maliki, Syafi’i, dan Hambali dibolehkan memilih antara mengerjakan shalat qoshor atau jama’. Rasulullah Saw pernah melakukan gabungan jama’ dan qashar sekaligus. Pendapat ini juga merupakan fatwa para ulama, termasuk Syaikh Abdul Aziz bin Baz.

“Dan apabila kamu bepergian di muka bumi, maka tidaklah mengapa kamu mengqashar shalatmu…” (QS. An-Nisaa’:101).

’(Qashar itu) adalah sedekah dari Allah kepadamu, maka terimalah sedekah Allah tersebut.’” (HR. Muslim dan Abu Dawud).

Dari Ibnu Abbas r.a. berkata: “Allah menentukan shalat melalui lisan Nabimu Saw empat raka’at bila hadhar (mukim) dan dua raka’at bila safar.” (HR. Muslim, Ibnu Majah, Abu Dawud dll).

Anas bin Malik r.a.: “Kami pergi bersama Rasulullah Saw dari kota Madinah ke kota Makkah, maka beliaupun shalat dua-dua (qashar) sampai kami kembali ke kota Madinah.” (HR. Bukhari dan Muslim).

Syarat Shalat Qoshor
Shalat Qashar hanya boleh dilakukan oleh Musafir --dekat ataupun jauh-- karena tidak ada dalil yang membatasi jarak tertentu.

Sebagian ulama memberikan batasan dengan safar yang lebih dari 80 Km. Sekitar 80 atau 90 Km --pendapat para imam dan ulama yang layak berijtihad. (Majmu’ Fatawa Syaikh Utsaimin).

Seorang musafir diperbolehkan mengqashar shalatnya apabila telah meninggalkan kampung halamannya sampai dia pulang kembali ke rumahnya. (Al Wajiz, Abdul ‘Adhim Al-Khalafi).

Rasulullah Saw pernah menjama’ara Dhuhur dengan Ashar dan antara Maghrib dengan Isya’ di Madinah tanpa sebab takut dan safar (dalam riwayat lain: tanpa sebab takut dan hujan). Ketika ditanya hal itu kepada Ibnu Abbas, ia menjawab: ”Rasulullah Saw tidak ingin memberatkan umatnya.” (HR.Muslim).
