Dr. Yusuf Qardhawi, meskipun cenderung kepada pendapat yang tidak membatalkan, menyarankan agar penggunaan infus dihindari pada saat berpuasa.
Alasannya meskipun infus tidak mengenyangkan, tetapi cukup menjadikan tubuh terasa relatif segar.
Intinya, infus dapat dilihat dari dua sisi, proses masuk dan efek yang ditimbulkan. Ditinjau dari sisi pertama, infus tidak membatalkan puasa, seperti suntik, sebab masuknya cairan tidak melalui organ tubuh yang berlubang terbuka.
Tetapi, melihat fakta bahwa ia berpotensi menyegarkan badan dan menghilangkan lapar serta dahaga, kita patut bertanya:
“Apakah menyatakan infus tidak membatalkan puasatidak berlawanan dengan tujuan puasa itu sendiri, yakni merasakan lapar dan dahaga sebagai wahana latihan mengendalikan nafsu dan menumbuhkan empati kepada kaum mustadh’afin?”
Untuk menghadapi masalah yang disangsikan hukumnya, cara paling aman adalah meninggalkannya, sebagai diajarkan Rasulullah Saw. kaitannya dengan syubhat (tidak jelas dalil haramnya).
Ini artinya, pendapat infus membatalkan puasa lebih mencerminkan sikap berhati-hati (al-ahwat) dalam beragama. Toh orang sakit mendapatkan dispensasi berbuka pada bulan puasa.
