Kecantikan disini mempunyai arti bahwa kita dianjurkan untuk tampil cantik sesuai dengan ketentuan syariat islam. Bukan berarti mempercantik diri dengan merubah segala ciptaan Allah atau menghalangi kita untuk beribadah kepada Allah SWT, seperti halnya kutek.
Islam sangat melarang memakai kutek. Karena kutek itu terbuat dari bahan-bahan kimiawi. Dan apabila ia menempel pada kuku seseorang maka otomatis air wudhu’ tidak sampai pada kuku kita. karena ditutup oleh kutek.
Jadi kalau kuku tidak terkena wudhu maka sudah pasti wudhu’ kita tidak sah, karena kuku termasuk bagian dari tangan. Dan tangan merupakan salah satu dari rukun wudhu’.
Sebagaimana Firman Allah SWT didalam Al-Qur’an surah Al-Maidah ayat 6:
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا قُمْتُمْ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَاغْسِلُوا وُجُوهَكُمْ وَأَيْدِيَكُمْ إِلَى الْمَرَافِقِ وَامْسَحُوا بِرُءُوسِكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُمْ إِلَى الْكَعْبَيْنِ
“Wahai orang-orang yang beriman, Apabila kamu hendak melakukan sholat, maka basuhlah mukamu dan tanganmu sampai ke siku, dan sapulah kepalamu dan basuh lah  kedua kakimu sampai ke kedua mata kaki …” (QS. Al-Maidah: 6)
Dari ayat tersebut jelas bahwa tangan merupakan anggota wudhu. Jadi pada saat seseorang berwudhu’ maka harus membasahi semua anggotanya termasuk kuku.
Dalam hal ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa hukum memakai kutek adalah sangat dilarang dalam agama , karena dapat menghalangi wudhu’ . lain halnya bagi orang-orang yang sedang haid atau nifas.
Maka bagi orang tersebut jika ingin memakai kutek, diperbolehkan dalam islam. Karena mereka tidak melakukan sholat otomatis tidak berwudhu’.
Namun setelah ia suci dari haid atau nifasnya, maka kutek tersebut harus segera dibersihkan dari kukunya, sebelum ia mandi junub.
Karena mandi junub pun tidak sah apabila kuku kita dilapisi dengan kutek, karena airnya tidak bisa membasahi kuku.
Kapan Dibolehkan Pakai Kutek?Sebenarnya Islam memperbolehkan wanita untuk memperindah kukunya. Pasalnya seni yang disebut dengan nail art ini dahulunya juga kerap dilakukan wanita Islam.
Namun bukan dengan menggunakan kutek yang berbahan kimia seperti sekarang, akan tetapi menggunakan inai atau pacar.
Islam memperbolehkan wanita memakai kutek, namun hanya terbatas untuk mereka yang sedang berada dalam keadaan haid dan nifas. Ini artinya, wanita yang sedang dalam kondisi wajib salat tidak diperbolehkan menggunakan kutek.
Sifat cat kuku berbahan kimia sejatinya menghalangi jalannya air saat melaksanakan wudhu. Cat kuku adalah serupa adonan yang menempel di kuku sehingga ada lapisan yang dapat menghalangi mengalirnya air.

Untuk apa kita sholat beribu-ribu rakaat sedangkan tangan kita masih dilapisi dengan kutek. Rugi! karena sholat kita tidak sah disebabkan air wudhu tidak sampai kepada kuku.
