Wanita asal  Chaguanas, Trinidad ini, sebelumnya telah menjalani dua operasi untuk menghilangkan benjolan-benjolan itu.

Neurofibromatosis Tipe 1 sendiri disebabkan oleh mutasi gen dan menyebabkan pertumbuhan tumor di sepanjang saraf di kulit, otak dan bagian lain dari tubuh.

Ini mempengaruhi sekitar satu hingga 25.000 orang di seluruh dunia dengan berbagai tingkat keparahan.
