TANYA: Surat Apa yang Dibaca Imam dalam Shalat Witir Setelah Tarawih? Di masjid saya, ketika shalat witir tiga rokaat usai tarawih, imam suka baca Surat Qulhu (Al-Ikhlas), Al-Falaq, dan An-Nas di rakaat terakhir? Apa ada syariatnya atau contohnya dari Rasulullah?

JAWAB: Membaca surat dalam shalat, setelah baca Al-Fatihah, hukumnya sunah. Boleh baca surat, boleh juga tidak.

Dengan demikian, bacaan surat apa pun dalam shalat witir, sholat apa pun, termasuk di rokaat terakhir sholat witir, bebas, tidak ada larangan, juga tidak ada kewajiban.

Tentang yang ditanyakan, yakni imam suka baca Surat Qulhu (Al-Ikhlas), Al-Falaq, dan An-Nas di rakaat terakhir, memang ada contohnya dari Rasulullah Saw, sebagaiman hadits berikut ini:

عن عبد العزيز بن جريج قال: سألنا عائشة بأي شيء كان يوتر رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم ؟ قالت كان يقرأ في الركعة الأولى بسبح اسم ربك الأعلى . وفي الثانية قل يا أيها الكافرون . وفي الثالثة قل هو الله أحد والمعوذتين

“Dari Abdul Aziz bin Juraij beliau berkata: Kami bertanya kepada ‘Aisyah: Dengan apakah Rasulullah Saw shalat witir? Maka ‘Aisyah menjawab: Beliau membaca (sabbihismarabbikal a’la) pada rakaat pertama, dan (qul yaa ayyuhal kafirun) pada rakaat yang kedua, dan (qul huwallahu ahad) serta (al mu’awwidzatain/al-falaq dan An-Naas) pada rakaat yang ketiga.” (HR. Abu Dawud, At-Tirmidzy, Ibnu Majah).

“Dari ‘Ubay bin Ka’ab beliau berkata: Dahulu Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam shalat witir dengan membaca (Sabbihismarabbikal a’laa),dan (Qul yaa ayyuhal kafirun), dan (Qul huwallahu ahad)” (HR. An-Nasai’y dan Ibnu Majah)

Dari Aisyah ra disebutkan bahwa beliau ditanya, “Dengan surah apa Nabi saw biasa melakukan salat witir?” Aisyah ra menjawab, “Pada rakaat pertama beliau membaca sabbih isma rabbika al-A‘la, pada rakaat kedua membaca qul ya ayyuha al-kafirun, dan pada rakaat ketiga membaca qul huwallahu ahad dan al-mu‘awwidzatain. Al-mu‘awwidzatain adalah qul a‘udzu bi rabbi al-falaq dan qul an-nas).” (HR Tirmidzi).

Jadi, berdasarkan hadits di atas, maka mayoritas imam sholat tarawih akan membaca surat-surat berikut ini pada saat melakukan sholat witir tiga rokaat:
– Raka’at Pertama: Al Fatihah + Surat Al A’la
– Raka’at Kedua: Al Fatihah + Surat Al Kafirun
– Raka’at Ketiga: Al Fatihah + Al Ikhlas + Al-Falaq + An-Nas.

Namun, jika tidak demikian pun, tidak mengapa. Jika mengikuti cara Nabi Saw di atas, tentu jauh lebih baik, tapi tidak wajib.

Pengertian Shalat Witir

Witir secara bahasa berarti ganjil. Hal ini sebagaimana dapat kita lihat dalam sabda Nabi shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam,

إِنَّ اللَّهَ وِتْرٌ يُحِبُّ الْوِتْرَ

“Sesungguhnya Allah itu Witr dan menyukai yang witr (ganjil).” (HR. Bukhari no. 6410dan Muslim no. 2677)

Sedangkan yang dimaksud witir pada shalat witir adalah shalat yang dikerjakan antara shalat Isya’ dan terbitnya fajar (masuknya waktu Shubuh), dan shalat ini adalah penutup shalat malam (atau shalat tarawih di bulan Ramadhan).

Menurut mayoritas ulama, hukum shalat witir adalah sunnah muakkad (sunnah yang amat dianjurkan). Wallahu a'lam bish-shawabi.*
