Apa yg menyebabkan cahaya bulan hilang?

Kata-kata asli dalam ayat tersebut adalah 'Khasafa'. Kita tentunya ingat akan shalat Khusuf (صلاة الخسوف) yg kita lakukan saat terjadinya gerhana bulan. Jadi salah satu dari tanda kiamat adalah terjadinya 'gerhana'.

Dalam satu riwayat dijelaskan bahwa saat terjadi gerhana bulan, Rasulullah SAW shalat gerhana bulan begitu lamanya sehingga beberapa jemaahnya pingsan karena kelelahan.

Jika melihat hal ini, tentu saja kita bisa melihat bahwa gerhana bulan hanya akan terjadi sesaat saja dan pada posisi di mana bulan masuk bayang-bayang bumi. Jadi bumi terletak antara bulan dan matahari.Tafsir ayat di atas adalah 'bulan telah kehilangan cahayanya' artinya cahaya bulan hilang untuk waktu yg lama.Apa yang memungkinkan hal itu terjadi?

Apa yang bisa menyebabkan bulan kehilangan cahayanya untuk waktu yang lama?

Kata 'khasafa' muncul sebanyak 2x dalam Qur'an yaitu:
QS 28:82 dan QS 75:8

Pada QS 28:82 (لَوْلا أَنْ مَنَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا لَخَسَفَ بِنَا), khasafa diterjemahkan sebagai membenamkan. Sehingga khasafa dalam ayat ini memang digambarkan mengenai hilangnya cahaya bulan seolah terjadinya gerhana/terbenam.

Pertanyaannya adalah bagaimana? Kita tahu bahwa bulan itu hanya MEMANTULKAN cahaya dari matahari. Artinya, saat bulan itu seolah terbenam (di satu tempat), maka ia akan seolah terbit di tempat yg lain. Jadi selama bulan mengitari bumi, dan bumi mengitari matahari, dan bumi berputar pada porosnya, seharusnya setiap bagian bumi pasti akan bisa melihat cahaya pantulan tersebut. Dan Qur'an menyatakan bahwa hanya sinarnya yg hilang. Artinya, bukan bulannya yg hancur.

Salah satu yg jawaban yg masuk akal adalah bulan kehilangan kemampuan memantulkannya karena  sinar matahari tidak lagi dipantulkan melainkan dibiaskan ke arah yg berbeda. Jadi terjadi sesuatu pada permukaan bulan sehingga pantulan cahaya matahari tidak lagi sampai ke bumi.

Banyaknya hujan meteor yg terjadi 10 tahun belakangan ini memang mengisyaratkan hal itu.
Hujan meteor (meteor shower) yg menghantam bumi dg kecepatan 160,000 km/jam menghasilkan percikan api saat menghantam atsmosfer bumi. tetapi bulan tidak memiliki atmosfer sehingga kecepatan meteoir saat menghantam permukaan bulan menjadi lebih tinggi dan menghasilkan kehancuran yg lebih besar.

Di permukaan bulan, meteor sebesar bola golf akan menghantam permukaan dg kecepatan 250,000 km/jam dan menghasilkan ledakan yang setara dg beberapa puluh ton dinamit. Dengan jumlah jutaan, maka bisa dibayangkan apa yg terjadi.

Pada kasus hujan meteor di bulan pada tanggal 10 Agustus 2012, Meteor Perseid menghujani bulan dg 80 meteor/jam.Pada saat itu terlihat bahwa cahaya bulan berkedip walau hanya selama 1/30 detik  Tahun ini, selain meteor Perseid, meteor Geminid juga akan menghantam bulan pada Dsesmber 2012.Meteor Geminid akan menghantam 90 persen dari permukaan bulan.

Anda bisa melihat kedipan bulan dengan teleskop berukuran 8 inch.Sejak tahun 2005 sampai saat ini sudah tercatat bahwa bulan kehilangan cahayanya (dalam bentuk kedipan/lunar flash) sebanyak 200 kali.

Dalam kasus bulan, hilangnya kemampuan memantulkan bisa terjadi karena permukaan bulan dihujani meteor sehingga banyaknya pecahan akibat tumbukan itu menghilangkan/menurunkan kemampuan bulan memantulkan cahaya matahari ke bumi.

Ayat 8 & 9 memperlihatkan bahwa salah satu tanda kiamat adalah hilangnya keseimbangan benda-benda astronomi dalam tata surya kita.
